We met by chance, by twist of fate,
No normal courtship, no proper date
We declared our love, that starry night
Maybe for once, for once it'd be right
My age, your age, I was so much older
Yet we loved face-to-face, and shoulder-to-shoulder
I love your son, who I never met
I can't ease your pain, for that I regret
"We're out of control", you then said
You let me crash, you left me for dead
I can't understand, since then we spoke
My grief and pain, it played as a joke
I lived for us, you lived for you,
I don't know what's false, or what is true
I hope I helped, your troubled life
That it may ease, my own pain and strife
It seems goodbye, was our only end
You still have my heart, to which I must tend
I was good for a laugh, good for a ride
Now in your absence, I've seen your other side
I still thank God, for you He did send
End this nightmare, yet my dreams never end
