Gathering Dust

Contributed by MoonlightKiss on Tuesday, 17th February 2009 @ 12:26:23 PM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

A love like this is something to think about
A gust of uncertainty blew the candle out
Before I go, promise me you'll be okay
And before I leave, I have somethin' to say

You're not the same person
That you once were
Instead of loving me
You were somewhere with her
What happened to forever
What happened to trust
Sitting here in silence
My conscience gathering dust...

A breakup like this is somethin' worth tears
A dose of insanity, some reccomended fear
But before I move on now, before I go
There's one more thing that you should know

I'm not the same person
Different, I've become
A loss of someone so close
I scream, but no on will come
No, no of course not
Here comes the killing gust
In solace I will lie
My body gathering dust.

This has a lyrical feel. It has potential as a song. That's not to say it is not fine as a poem for it is.

I read once that people are only perfect when someone falls in love with them. Your poem made me think on how or whether or not we truly change or if we become what we were...
