None say madness but I, Yet all hear nothing but I, The bells, the chimes, the ticking of time, Yet no timepiece is near, No bell for me to hear, Until the moment before i reach sleep, These sounds are so faint yet so deep, Then so loud they will be, assailing none but me, And I feel there is some mistake, I've had no rest yet i'm fully awake, The tones these phantoms have made, Slowly these phantom tones fade,
Reason compels me to shut my eyes, To take advantage of this moment's peace, Yet i fear that this ticking and chime, Surely will never cease,
Now i sense the dacay of years, Forgeting what was, Reassuring those fears, Remembering what wasn't, Pondering those tears,
Assailed by a madness i can't prove or disprove, Held tight by invisible strands, Not body, nor spirit, nor soul, can move, Without the gesture of an invisible hand.
