His scent still lingers here in my room As I lie in my bed, tears staining my pillow Blood staining the white sheets crimson Hide the cuts from everyone; even my lover So they don't try to help; don't try to repair me They don't need to fix me; I'm not broken They don't understand that I need to do this Because when I cut, it takes away the hurt And brings a new pain that's physical It doesn't hurt as much or last near as long And I don't think I deserve to have this life In a fit of rage, cut too deep, into the vein I can't stop it for awhile; why would I Stand in the shower, hot water scalding Watch the blood wash down the drain And this storm keeps thundering above me Too cold and tired to try and make it home And suddenly a hand reaches to take the glass I look up, and there you are. You take me in your arms and tell me it'll be okay That this is the start of a new, bright beginning The sun is rising to start a new summer day And I breathe in your sweet, lingering scent These scars will remain so long; forever But the hurt doesn't last near as long Now my sheets are white as snow No crimson stains anymore...

a very deep write that was full of angst and passion. i particularly enjoyed this line:
'And I breathe in your sweet, lingering scent'
a beautiful piece of imagery there, good work.

I can relate to this as I use to cut myself as well. Luckily you have found someone that truly cared about you. This is an excellent poem! |

Excellent work. A superb blend of passion, melancholy and amour. I must add though, self-mutilation is a foolish act and will only relinquish pain temporarily. Before you know it, you have destroyed what beauty you were born with. It is simply not worth it and in the end, will only make matters worse. Nevertheless, take care and I wish you the best of luck. |
