Twenty-nine Degrees
My Titanic has long since grazed its ice berg; long, long, long since...
Tell me, have you ever felt twenty-nine degree water? From the vantage point of your warm, sustaining relationships, can you even imagine twenty-nine degree water? Twenty-nine degrees... twenty-nine carnivorous degrees biting, stabbing, tearing, grinding, chewing into every square inch of your flesh, your spirit, your soul, your heart...
Like many of my comrades in tragedy; honorable members of the North Atlantic Frigid Seas Society; immersed from head to foot in twenty-nine degree water; I, too, have often, yearned for the warm inviting blanket of lifelessness; I have yearned for death's welcome release...
Not today, though!

Great Job,
I've felt the bite of water that cold....not pleasant at all.....
Keep up the good work!

After I read your poem, my first thought was a heart so in-tune with empathy is a soul with depth and warmth.
I could feel the temperature and the pain you so perfectly described.
I also loved your last thought. It ended wonderfully.

I loved it.
It was spooky, and deep. a Little scary how much raw passion you have. |
