In your eyes I see the disappointment of my future. These old walls reflect stagnation, Not the hope I feel. The conflict is my addiction. You'll be my downfall But I just can't resist. You're my comfort zone, But claustrophobia is beginning to grip.
I need to be miles from here, To grow and become, But my imagination won't stretch that far, Because you won't be there, There are those who would be devoted, Be by my side at every step. Is it because I'm just a commodity? A treasure almost, but still dispensable.
As time goes by the gap grows bigger, Maybe when the time comes it will be easier, Because the distance between us Is already vast enough to let go. A disconnect, a sacrifice, In return for a dream. I'll let the years decide, What really bears worth in our lives.

To me, a very contemplative piece. I think it's actually well written, so your reference to not perfect, well I suppose nothing is perfect. Especially life and where it takes us, hmmm? :-) Anyway, I enjoyed it very much. While my situation may vary from yours, I am also going through life altering changes that I'll let time decide.
But *sigh* I hope your struggle turns out for the good.
Again, a very nicely written poem.
Take care,
Tim |
