Questions of Measurement

How do you measure insanity When no one really fits the mold? How do you weigh prosperity If wealth is determined by gold?
Where is the end of youthfulness And the beginning of old age? How can you measure intelligence If everyone has their own trade?
What is the point of an average When there's so much diversity? What is the correlation of race To life expectancy?
If a herd of cattle lose several bulls, How many bovines are left? If the average person was left out in the rain, Just how many people got wet?
What percentage of a group Can be considered "most?" How far away from something Must one be to say "I'm close?"
The moral of the story is That life is inexact. The more we try to measure it, The less we base on fact.
Perceptions of a person Cannot ever be defined, Much less given a place upon A rational number line.
Society, I refuse to be A notch along your belt. Just let me live my life And keep your measurements to yourself.
