You make me wish I was a better person
But I'm not
I'm not.
I'm not afraid to die
But I am afraid of the tears
That have long bound me to this place
Trapped with my thoughts
Alone with my regrets
A tainted paradise
And I'm okay.
I'm not a fool
I foresee every outcome
I'm a fool
For believing the worst won't prevail
Hypocrisy and contradiction
That have long held me to this place
And I'm not okay.
Tonight with your hot breath on my neck
We both know it's wrong
But we don't care this time
Your hands caress my thighs
And touch me where the light doesn't go
I'm disgusted with myself
But I don't care.
The empty feeling rapes me
And the place I ran from
Is always right behind me
Reminding me why I need you
I died long ago
But I'm still alive
And I'm okay.

| Many a time my thoughts and feelings contradict each other, but I do not believe that they are contradictory. They are what I really think and feel. They are real and human. So I understand and appreciate Karlee14's poem. |
