I never expected this to hurt so much
But even as friends you wont stay in touch
My heart, filled with anguish
Still yearns for you
But my mind understands
Our relationship is through
My heart has been broken
Many times before
But this time was different
Because I wanted more
Our long talks together
About family and goals
Drew me towards you
Ive never been so bold.
Im not sure I will ever open up again
Because keeping people out
Hurts less than letting someone in
But through all this hurt
