This world is a highway to hell I didnt realize how far I fell Corrupted by comforts, its hard to tell Paying no mind to the conditions in which I dwell Shackled in chains, in a cold cell Why did I desire to feel numb? Leads only to sadness, confusion, glum And ultimately ashamed of what Id become Unaware of the consequences, the final outcome Did I inherit this God forsaken gene? Wheres my will power? Have I lost my spleen? Saying words you know I didnt mean Today, Im proud to be sober and clean The progress Ive made should be evident If you could see into my past youd see the evidence Theres goodness inside, not always inherent A childs curiosity, with a touch of ambivalence The things I need to know will be revealed to me in time The bell of my heart today rings a beautiful chime To reach new heights Ill continue to climb And learn all the lessons before I sublime
