My Friend

My Friend

I have a friend I have met through this site
She is mentioned in my prayers every night
To disappear from earth is what she would like to do
There is a side of her I would like to bring to public view

She lives her life longing for the night
So people do not see that she has to fight
The battles that she faces are ones most can not comprehend
If I have my prayers answered they will be on the mend

Living her life always hoping for the dark
Has never been for her a walk in the park
Not wanting to get close because of the fear
If I had my way, I would always hold her near

Taking the hand of a stranger who says they care
Is such a huge step of faith, not a game of truth or dare
The offer to be your friend is given without strings
I will be there now and long after joyously your heart sings

For you to know that happiness is somewhere out there for you
Is the ultimate result of what I am trying to do
You said Heaven would not be the same if I were not there
If we never meet on Earth, in Heaven into your eyes I will stare

I am glad our paths have crossed; I hope you feel the same
To lean on someone for help is not a reason for shame
We have been brought together to help each other through
This rough period until our spirits are renewed
