Heady material, this crush of yours; For, only you knew how to vault It in the night, as you lay awake And save it from the cunning somersault
That heralds its burglary. And only you knew how to worship Its anniversary, if anniversaries Were ever a labor of days; jip
This modular, oracular box Of its recited trifecta: month day year Combination--and lose this fact, If threes were ever potent saboteurs to the ear.
Only you do not let this crushname do unto The enshrined thing itself, the plunder Endlessly vulnerable Beneath hands' tapping gunnery, thunder
Upon the vault. And only you loom sentry-- That the lacquered faces fail to burn Notwithstanding a moment's lapse of adoration: You still find some owner--and return.
