Another place, in another time
I know that you were mine.
your skin, your moans, your passionate fire
your eyes
that flamed light into me
but here and now; those eyes
belong to another
as does your body,
mind,
heart,
emotions . . .
soul.
Is it possible, in that past life I did not appreciate
who you were
or what I had,
and as karma goes-
now
I have no way to possess you?
Yet, it does not stop
My heart from longing, my thoughts from lingering
my want from burning and my desire from imploding
tightening the knots in unloved terrains
A different place, in a different time
I know that you were mine
but now, I have only. . .
my lust.
