Where did that idea come from
The one I kept in my head till yesterday
There was an illusion of partial success
I thought I had finally figured out
What it takes to create a smile
I thought I deserved more than this pain
Where did those words come from
The ones I used to prove my point
Profound colours displayed my opinions
I thought I had finally figured out
What it takes to mend a wound
I thought I deserved more than this shame
Where does that reflection come from
The one I see in your saddened eyes
Tears of hurt show me my inner reality
Maybe I haven't really figured out
What it takes to make someone whole
Maybe I don't deserve to see your smile
Drown me in your sorrow of innocence
You deserve more than the words of my iniquity
Flood my senses with your broken expectations
You deserve more than an inattentive friend like me
