I'm Afraid

I'm so very afraid,
To leave my home,
To be out on my own,
To be my own person.
Being so far away,
From the people I love.
Having to make new friends,
In a strange new town.
Being away from my lover,
Being away from my best friend.
I'm so very afraid,
Of trying to succeed,
Trying to succeed on my own.
Going through life's test,
All alone.
Without any comfort or support,
Except from a thousand miles away,
Just a voice over the phone,
Or words on a screen.
I'm so very afraid,
To leave the comfort of home.
