Mind over Matter

Contributed by Alone_in_Darkness on Wednesday, 24th June 2009 @ 06:55:58 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

The Shadow
Is the mind, running through the traffic jams of decisions.
But as it breaks through the dark-filled highways
And peeks through its eyes
The light blinds me revealing the matter.

The Shadow
In the light of everyday,
May seem dark and dismal
And the feelings of joy may seem far.
Leaving empty spaces
Filling you with holes of despair.

The Shadow,
Depression,
It follows me as the shadow of he who dances my every step
Follows me, making the same movements as my original.
But has a black heart, waiting in the wings to ambush,
With nothing, nothing but numbness.

The Shadow
Faces the light
Seeming brave with nothing to fear
He will be back to rule again.
To blind the dark, or shine through all,
Hes not sure.

The Shadow
If he finds the tiniest weakness in the light
And breaks through
The light will be crushed
But only to come again on another day.

The shadow
Can light up the darkest day
To shine through the bad
No! Not mine.
Mine covers the shine like a blanket
Now watch as it swallows me whole.

Depression expressed as a shadow,a very apt way of describing it,it follows me as the shadow of he who dances my every step, relentless, till it consumes you, very strong and personal write bringing furthur understanding.
