Once in a while, I feel the need To call you up and do indeed Invite you to come and feed With me: ham rolls and mustard seed.
We speak and hear of many things: Of how and why we wear those rings, Of what we think the future brings; But listen when the blackbird sings.
Our lunch is over far too fast. Work beckons, and our time has passed. For now this touch must be the last, This touch for which my heart was cast.
We may be objects of desire, And, secretly, our souls conspire To let emotion grow much higher, And try to set our lives on fire
When we're apart, time seems to drift; When together, it flows so swift. Between us, there must be no rift. Our friendship is a special gift;
My love for you, my dearest friend, Will never, from this moment, end. The rest of time, I'd gladly spend With you, Claire, if you'd condescend.
