Why Does the Heart want what it cannot have?

I've tried to make you see some sense
Your feelings are in vain
I've weighted out the pros and cons
But still you act insane

You know for sure he does not want
To hold you in his arms
And though you try, he will not fall
For any of your charms

You'll never get the chance to kiss
Him softly on the lips
You're foolish to want him to touch
You with his fingertips

So even though you know these things
Your blindness makes me mad
Why is it that the heart still wants
Just what it cannot have?
