I know what Mum said
I know what youre saying.
But I still dont get why.
Why you?
You need to stay
Here with us
With youre wife and daughter
And son and mother.
Other people can fight the battles
You always talk about.
You dont need to go
Please dont go out.
Listen to the families
Others had to leave.
Dad, my Daddy
They arent coming back.
Please listen to me!
Now youve told me, its true
That you wont get hurt
Youll be back soon.
But Daddy I know
Youre just saying that.
6 months is a long time
And I know youre the front line.
There are people with families
Dying out there
Dad, do you even care
That you might leave us?
You wont see me again.
Wait, I get it now.
You want us to be safe.
You want no other man,
To do what you have to do.
To leave theyre lives
And families behind.
I understand
You love us
Youll be back soon.
We love you, Daddy

At a young age do we ever truly understand adult ways of thinking.
Perhaps not until we are adult ourselves do we see the bigger picture.
