It was a warm and beautiful night.
We sat on the dock
after a painful little fight.
Your back was turned
as you explained all that I did wrong-
and that we wouldn't be together
for very long.
I didn't cry.
It was weird-
I don't even know why.
I just stared out at the sea
as I thought about how it used to be.
We were so into eachother.
I thought we would be together forever.
But here we are,
and you seem so far.
You yell and tell me how much it hurt.
That we can't get along-
we treat eachother like dirt.
Finally you stopped and looked at me.
Just in time for you to see.
I shed a single tear
and watched it fall into the ocean.
Then I turned and said
"the moment you find it, i'll stop loving you."
