i should have seen it coming
way before you even left
you were too good to be true
made me feel as if i were blessed
just those little things you did
so subtle and harmless they seemed
though now that i think of them
they were the casualties of your scheme

and then you stopped talking
as if you were never around to begin
made me believe that it was all your fault
but i know how the game works
and it broke my heart all the same
now you're gone and i'm still alone
like the moon when the stars fade away

though it's been months since our last kiss
the touch of you lips is still present
and i know i'm wasting my time
hoping that one day you would call
when we both know my hopes are too high
but that's cool, i can live with that
and just hear me out before you go for good
not once did i even drop a tear for you
