Fighting Sleep

Contributed by Arwen on Monday, 31st March 2003 @ 09:25:00 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Beyond the clouds is the place I want to be,
For therein lies peace.
I could run away here...to find tranquility
A place...
For my anxious soul to rest.

No-one understands what I am, what I want to be...how much I try...
They just try to stop me
Every step I take...
I'm pushed two steps back.
Nothing's the same anymore...

That's why I have to discard everything that
Means anything to me.
I'll go beyond the clouds...
And reach that door.
Nothing will weigh me down once I pass
Beyond it.
No pressure, no work.
Just laughter, sunshine
And Peace.

A lot has been accomplished,
I've passed all the obstacles...
Survived a good few of them surprisingly.
And now I've reached that point,
That plane of clarity
Where I see everything that is...
And all that will come.
Where I'M the one who runs the show...
Who stands above it all.

The one...
In control.

I guess the beauty of poetry is within the reader and how they interpet what is being written. I have been in that place as well. Where it feels like no one recognizes the obstacles that I have overcome and the person I hope and strive to be. The inner-struggle to be truly happy, and the outer one to be accepted. I hope you achieve that happiness and control over your own destiny in this life time. Which I believe you will. The longer the road, and the tougher the struggle...the more beautiful the rewards are in the end. Look in the mirror and see the most important person, the one who matters the most when it comes to how you are viewed. Keep believing and fighting for the things you want. For it is the journey here that predicts what is in store for us beyond the clouds.
Keep up the writing!!

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
