My heart and mind remain in conflict
While my soul stands guard
One begging to be sensible
The other starting to fall hard
My heart disregards everything
Except what could someday be
But my mind comprehends this
And certainly doesn't agree
So remains this problem
Between my heart and mind
I fear that though I try and try
A compromise, I will never find
One pleads for freedom
To give love a fighting chance
The other turns its back
Without even a second glance
And so continues this internal battle
Between what's right and what's wrong
My mind wants some accomplishments
But my heart knows that with you, I belong.
