A decorated soldier
a flag, a purple heart
something that we celebrate
just tore their world apart
As the family gathers
we bow our heads to pray
a soldier's coming home
they'll bury him today
We call him a hero
he fought just to protect
he never had a doubt
not one single regret
God my heart goes out
to his family and his friends
so many hearts are broken
so many lives to mend
To me he was a stranger
I'll never know his name
and still he fought for me
and treated me the same
Someone has lost a son,
a brother or a dad
that's the part that really hurts
and breaks my heart so bad
We know that he's in heaven
and he's with God above
a soldier's coming home today
God, please give him all my love........
