She Used To Be The One

Contributed by jaeann on Sunday, 25th October 2009 @ 01:14:13 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

At one time
she was
the one
it was done
now he's on the run
this isn't any fun
she's reeling and quite stunned
feeling shunned
she believes he's won
her heart weighs a ton
thinks she's under the gun
her dreams all gone bar none
life is ironic reveals no pun
she's feeling banished from you hon
no rainbows left under a dark sun.....

She once was
the one
now she's just a contender
no one around to defend her
empty nights with no one for her to surrender
she feels like she's been stamped "services rendered"
love denied, damages tendered
now to forget she resorts to her benders...

Long ago
she was
the one
she was his girl
now she lives inside a world so cruel
she shivers as she feels November's pull
her crumbling heart makes her feel wretchedly cool
her pride shattered she feels just like a fool
she even managed to play by all the rules..

There was a day
once when
she was
the one
but that's all gone now
she doesn't even know how
there wasn't a lot she wouldn't have allowed
no more future for her universe to endow
now there's no hand held out for her to follow
and her soul lays hollow
this pain too much for her to swallow....

There was a moment
when she was
the one
at one time so secure in his love
only him was all she could think of
now she prays to the masters above
for the smooth flight of the dove
knowing the winds of change won't hesitate to shove
her love for him no longer fits him like a glove....

She'll never again
see herself
as his one
leaving her depressed and lonely
thinks all her smiles are necessary yet phony
she's choking and drowning in the foamy sea
dazed and confused and unable to believe
for it's her trust she'll not ever retrieve
but her body she cannot deceive
for this is the hardest loss she's ever had to grieve....
