Abigail,
you are my child,
my daughter;
my definition of precious purity;
All I'll ever expect of you
is for you to be you,
no body and no thing else;
That's the only way you'll ever be free enough
to learn;
That's the only way you'll ever be independent enough
to discern,
social quagmire
from pure desire;
cultural mausoleums
from genuine Life;
traditional mindlessness
from authentic Truth and Knowledge;
That's how my Daddy was with me;
That's how I'm gonna' be with you...

Trial and error will guide your path;
This world will attempt to cull you
with disparaging comments;
They will demean your efforts
and tempt you to align your Self
with their dysfunctional gods:
trust, faith and belief;
They will try to damn your soul;
Amidst it all
please remember:
I am with you always.
I give you my Word here and now;
no matter how severe the trial,
and no matter how astonishing the error,
I will remain
beside you,
before you,
behind you,
above you,
below you,
and forever within you.
Awake each morning Knowing this:
I do not trust in you;
I do not believe in you;
I do not have faith in you;
I Know in you.
That's what my Daddy told me,
and that's what I'm telling you.

Dear Ron,
This is such a beautiful & inspiring declaration of love & devotion.
You have a clarity & serenity in your caring that I can't help but admire.
I only hope to feel & live these premises with my daughter.
Touched my heart.
elle :)

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
