Silently She Cries

Silently She Cries

Tonight she rocks slowly
In her favorite chair
Eyes open but not seeing
Only memories fair

She sees him playing
With the dog on the porch
Sees him doing chores
In the night with a torch

She sees him driving the tractor
In the field along side his dad
She sees his tears
When his heart was broken so bad

She sees him in uniform
The day he went away
She sees the tears as he smiles
When he left her that day

Finally she sees
A note falling from her hand
Seeing it abstractly
Into her heart the words are brand

We regret to inform you
Today your son has died
He fought gallantly
With honor and pride

One last time she sees him
Smiling, waving, saying goodbye
And as her memories fade away
Silently she cries

Russ

This touched me. Beautiful poem. This is one of the hardest things to endure. Waiting and wondering about our loved ones off to war. Peace to you. God Bless America.God Bless Our Troops

It is hard to lose part of you as it is with a son.
This is one of the saddest but most emotionally written poems I have ever read.
It broke my heart to read of such tradgety.
You are an awesome writter and I think your son would be proud of this tribute.
Be well and take care for you sound strong and caring.

Thank you for your kind words but this is not about my son but those sons who are dying on the battlefield. It is written as a testimony to mothers everywhere no matter what side . Every soldier has a mother who Silently cries.
Thank you again for your kind words.

Russ
