I lay here and listen to the rain
Wishin' you were layin' by my side
So I could hear you whisper in my ear
"Baby, you are my whole life."
I turn off the lamp and close my eyes
Wishin' you were here to hold me tight
So I could feel you kiss my cheek and say
"Sweet dreams baby, and goodnight."
My dear, you could promise me the world
But it wouldn't mean a single thing to me
'Cause you're all I need to make it through the day
You are everything I've ever wanted to be.
I sit here and watch the midnight sky
Wishin' I was with my own shining star
So I could hear your whisper in my hair
"I'm always here, no matter where you are."
I go back inside and up to my room
Call you on the phone and close my door
Lay on my bed and hear you say
"Baby, you are all I need and more."
