When the sun sinks slowly into slumber at day's closing You will echo in my mind, resonate the chords of memory Radiate like fire beacon, unblemished by the strongest storm One more of life's paths abandoned, yet still not overgrown
There is never forever, just prolonging of the now A window of time always closing on the present Pushed open again and again until strength weakens resolve And the sound of friendship is finally shunned and then shut out
This was my investment, so no debt is owed Though my heart sank heavy as you slipped from sight to memory Communication sank into the muddy pool of yesterday Familiar scars of history returned once more to taunt me
Life's canvas is recycled, renewed for another scene Yet the marks of those who came before can never be erased Everyone who meant something, portrayed among the lines Faded ghosts and silhouettes in a watercoloured life

This reminds me of an argument I had years ago with a fellow co worker and I said to him:
"I am but the sum total of all before me, a total that changes every second I live"

Really liked this the sentence that stood out was,'this was my investment so no debt is owed' a release from fighting with the inevitable and as a whole a reflection of lifes ever changing journey |

"Lifes Canvas"
A good way to describe how each of those we meet, add a bit of colour to our canvas, some bright, some not so.
this verse says it all.,
Some people come into our lives and quickly go, some people move our souls to dance, they awaken in us a new understanding with the passing whisper of their wisdom. Some people make the sky more beautiful to gaze upon, they stay in our lives for awhile, leave footprints in our hearts and we are never the same again."
