Open the flood gates Dirt to mud, mud to muck Waves of unease and water
The time is now Say a vow of your allegiance Nigh is the hour of the end
Dont try to argue, beg or borrow It will find you at any rate Face your Fate Or the price will be steeper
The gong has rung, and so its begun Refuse to run Or try your hand at freedom Either way, just know you will pay
The catch to great gifts: Life is fleeting, death is slow Paths are winding, finish lines are straight Hate is easy, love is hard
Martyr or sinner, no one remembers Its all and its nothing Destined to fall, failure
Build walls that crumble Die and decay Cant break the cycle, spinning one direction Because thats the worlds way

That's a rather cool poem I think. This idea of having to pay your dues at the end, the fact that nothing's gonna last forever- all that stuff is not especially new or something, but it's really well written.
So: thumbs up at last ... ;)

Bravo!
For some reason, well I know the reason, its my favorite poem you've published so far. Its the knowing maturity and laughter at the fact that the inevitable is always around the corner and no matter what you do it all that is either good or bad will come to an end. You know me well enough to know that's one of my favorite subjects. The ending of things.
Again, Bravo! |
