Sometimes he would become entangled Entangled in these mental vines Self-destructive habits formed As sharp as thorns - as sweet as wine
They weaved and weaved around the bends Bends that bound both space and time Lost within hindsight's crevasse In retrospect - the vines would climb
And knit themselves like fine Pashmina Spun around his crooked spine His cashmere dreams would fall apart Like spindled fibers - cheap as twine
Just as frequent as he stumbled He would become ensnared outright By every trap his heartstrings set Never seen - from such great heights
When emotional threads unraveled They liked to dangle free from sight Like serpents with poison snafus Constricting every single night
Love escaped his weakened grasp Beyond the void he saw the light The girl he sought no longer ran She flew away - a non-stop flight...

nice poem! especially the first stanza. I like the comparison to the the vines quite a lot and look forward to other parts. |
