''How Could You''

Contributed by Davehead3 on Monday, 22nd February 2010 @ 07:45:13 PM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

How could you ever love me,
When you know full well,
That all around you are other men,
Who, for you, would dig through Hell?

How could your beauty find me,
When its there for all to see?
How would you know whos earned it,
Among the many pleas?

Its clear youre out of reach for me.
It was too good to be true.
But then again, I have to hope,
Its too good to be false, too.

In you are my desires,
Your eyes hold all my dreams.
But how could I allow myself,
To take in their awesome gleam?

Maybe Im just a coward,
But, still, that cant be true.
Because, I know, Id take a bullet,
In loving defense of you.

All the time I spend with you,
And anytime you smile.
Those are the highlights of my days,
And make them all worth while.

Ill always hope you like me too;
Thinking otherwise makes me tense.
But, thats only about as likely,
As my feelings making sense.
