My Wings Never Grew

My wings just never grew Blackened from ashen cage It would take me years to learn What changes the world is outrage.
The pain in the mockingbirds cry, Dust crusted upon rusty heart, If only I knew what golden oars Could do to split the wind apart.
Drip drop oily black tears I wouldve never known Had I not bent the bars of fire With fire I had on loan.
It was within me, stirring As I leapt out and into a fall I couldve never dreamed Of how it felt to soar above it all.
