SUN

Contributed by harsh on Tuesday, 16th March 2010 @ 12:26:42 AM in AEST
Topic: anguished

When the sun climbed down the stairs and walked away
I watched it go and waited for another day
Bidding it farewell brought a tear to my eyes
Not looking back it disappeared in the skies

Hoping it would return forever to me
Wanted to crush it in my arms not letting it free
So when one fine day it came across the sky
I called it up aloud and held my arms high

Slowly it came and rested on my chest
I whispered in its ears that it should never leave the nest
It struggled a lot but my arms didnt budge
I told it to stay and not walk the trudge

But soon its breath began to fall
Not realizing it I still stood tall
It whimpered and struggled till its heart gave away
And I waited with it until the sky turned grey

After a while when I dislodged the embrace
Empty were its eyes, blank was its face
I sat down there and thought in dismay
I should have let it climb down and walk away

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
