When I Awaken

Contributed by JakerBaker88 on Friday, 2nd April 2010 @ 08:34:39 PM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

When I awaken,
My mouth curves upward.
Smiling, a sigh escapes me;
His face from a dream lingers.
Streching, I imagine my lover's embrace;
His arms gentle around my waist,
Playful to the touch-------
His voice whispering words of love.
Wonderous, this feeling of elation!
I am drunk from these thoughts;
He, my ever present muse
Inspires nothing but adoration.
My soul is enraptured,
Whenever I envision him,
Striking myself speechless.
When at last I leave,
I am overtaken with loving-----
Entrapped by longing,
My mouth turns downward.
Frowning, a sob overtakes me;
His absence from my life disappoints.
Resignedly, I accept the unacceptable;
He is not near to embrace me,
Or to gently caress my skin-----
His body miles apart from mine.
However, I continue to love onwards!
I am addicted to my dearest's soul;
He, the missing piece to myself
Encompassing the answer to my prayers,
Ignites the spark of life within my breast----
Is the reason my heart beats at all.

The beginning brought a smile to my face and then the tide turned and the reality of life hit. A wonderful expression of the roller coaster of life that many of us live.
