Gifts of Depression

Topic: hbadday

You think you are happy,
But theres much more underneath,
A looming anguish is growing,
Where your soul seems asleep.
Plastering plastic smiles on,
As you walk through the hall,
But despair clings at you,
Every pain and every fall.
The people around you adore you,
As the sadness stays hidden
All hope is gone. faith seems lost too.
No one has listened,
Well, no one knew,
You've got to tell someone,
But what if they laugh?
You've got to say something,
But youre heart is torn in half.
The tears flow secretly,
The cries go silent,
Darkness comes nearer,
Everything is quiet .
Suddenly, a dizzying light pours when you almost reach an end,
Youve found someone to talk to, youve found a friend.
You cling to each other like life rafts,
And for the first time in ages,
You find yourself laugh.
It starts off silent, a jangling of soft bells,
Then it grows louder,
Until your heart swells,
The laughter you two share, will it end?
Never.
It rings on for eternity, it rings on forever.

Great description, like stumbling upon little jewels here and there. Glad you've found a friend; silence can become a tomb for the lonely. Best of luck.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
