To Live Forever

If I could live forever, I don't think that I would. You'd out-age me and I'd have to watch you die. I wouldn't want to live anymore, in fact, I don't think I could. It would be a nightmare no one could wake me from.
Days would roll by like seconds, and I swear, I'd be able to predict the future. Every goddamn day would be the same New ideas, forgotten theories, New scandals and age old questions still unanswered, New children born and people dying. But I'd still be here, unchanged, unmoved. Without you I don't think I'd feel alive. I would be miserable, at my best. Hundreds of years would pass and my only joy would be The life I had with you.
So if I got the chance to live forever, I would say, "Not in a thousand years."

Even though this was listed as life poetry, I got an
overwhelming emotion of the constancy of love. One
so intensely wonderful, that death would be chosen
over living without. A beautiful write. I especially love
the couplet at the end.
A very warm post. --Achelois
