Gone

I am standing in this moment, watching, far-off you seem, like lights speeding forward, flickering, out of focus, you disappear. You, the ones I love are moving further into adulthood, into lifeand Ive been left behind. Someday soon, you will be so far ahead, there will be no hope of catching up, and I will be left here, forever trapped in this isolation. Horrified watching you fade into the distance. Meaningless life. I stand alone, confused as my dreams disintegrate through tightly gripped fingers, dust blending with the ground, vanished. I have nothing left, but the salty tears that slowly trickle down each cheek. Plop, plop. Wetting the ground which the dust of my dreams lightly covers. Was this life meant for me? At what point did my wondering, straying feet turn in such a direction as this? Time cannot be mended. Oh that I may escape the clutches of this trench I pace. Oh God save me from the nightmare of being left in this place, covered in this blanket of torment. My light is going out, I am fading, life has moved from my doorstep and I am lost. Gone.

Really interesting poem. I love the image of the 'lights speeding forward, flickering, out of focus'.

Thanks for commenting on mine btw :)
