The sun rises in the east again
And the dew falls from it's grace
The chill in the air remains even still
It's impossible to warm this place
The light struggles to fill the void
Left by years of chipping away
Try as it might, it won't succeed
Cause it's always been that way
In my world, there is a paradise
In my life, a haven of my own
In my trials, a place where the crosses don't burn
In my struggle, a shelter from the storm
Far away from the battles at hand
If only in my mind
I leave the field, retreat to safety
They say I'm a coward
Paradise has one room
And that is where I stay
Paradise has one door
So I keep it locked
Paradise has one window
But I don't look through it
Paradise has one room
That's the place where I stay

| I like the imagery expressed at the beginning of this poem. It expresses pain in a subtle but powerful manner. Also the Paradise symmetry near the end of the poem is very powerful. Pretty cool. |
