I remember

Contributed by M on Tuesday, 15th April 2003 @ 03:25:00 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

I remember when it all first began,
It was tainted from the start;
The love he seldom gave us,
So we wouldn't fall apart.

I remember the times he used to make me cry at night,
And the times he'd shout at me,
I remember lying in bed holding my baby brother,
Wishing we could be free.

I remember when I found out
That he'd caused mum to have a miscarriage,
I remember wondering why they tried to make it work,
This broken, ruined marriage.

And I remember when the day came
That would be our final goodbye,
And I remember sitting next to him,
Crying and asking myself why.

I remember my first cut,
Just after they told me I was mad,
I remember taking the ruler to my arm
And scratching with all the strength I had.

I remember seeing the blood ooze from my body,
And feeling on top of the world,
And then looking in the mirror
And seeing what I'd become, a broken little girl.

I remember praying every day for it to stop,
And knowing that it never would,
But I remember all to well,
The day I finished it off for good.

I remember spending a week's wages on the pills,
And making sure I got the craft knife,
Then taking the pills and cutting my wrist,
And putting an end to this twisted life.

I remember the first time I looked down from above,
And seeing how much better the world was now that I'd gone,
And seeing my loved ones cry for me,
And when I whispered 'it won't be long'.

xXx

a sad but well-written story is within this poem...and the world is not better at the loss of a soul just because it is broken...

I don't really take much time into commenting on peoples poems because well I guess you could say I'm lazy. But when I do comment on a poem I really dig it. Seriously. I agree with everybody else, a great poem and it does have a great story in it. And just a note. I've been in the same situation...Probably not in the exact one but very close. If you would like to talk ever my email address is crazychik007@hotmail.com or you could private message me anytime.

Wow... so sad you really know how to draw people into your poems. Wow this is so good. I don't really know what to say this was just so exceptional...
