Happiness

Contributed by kessembi on Wednesday, 16th June 2010 @ 12:57:39 PM in AEST
Topic: ambiguous

Happiness is a GQ suit and tie
A nice shirt that everyone's wearing these days
Only the cleanest shoes and a class ring
Not to mention that haircut that makes people tell you
'bout TIME you cut that off! you LOOK like somebody now!

Happiness is that $2 you found in your pants pocket doing laundry
Which got you a burger later that day from McDonalds (with some change)
A car people will accidentally 'stand beside' for pictures
With a sound system and dvd player
So you can watch Roots on your way to South Carolina

Happiness is some lady-body in your arms with nice hair and skin
Eyes like mine but brighter, rounder, colder, and slightly farther part
So not like mine at all ... but she knows everything about you
Why you frown up, what makes you mad, how to talk to you in any place
At any moment with the right words to end up lip locking

Happiness be those people who miss you, teachers that appreciate you
And superstars that bite the bullet being seen with you
People who don't know you cheering while you score hoops
Or touchdowns or home runs or whatever the hell you do for a jersey
Those bragging rights after accomplishing the great feat -

Happiness is a suit and tie, but joy... joy is a tailor
Happiness is a burger from McDonalds, but joy... joy is conversation and kool-aid
Happiness is a female, but joy... joy is a woman
Happiness screams, yells, and shouts, but joy... joy sits back
With arms folder over chest, smiling

I want joy

Yes, it is does little things that bring happiness. We just have to keep bringing them to life and recognizing when they are in front of us. Great way of putting some of things into perspective, with some great writing.

I also prefer joy over happiness any day. Joy is more genuine. Great poem!

True...joy is a lot deeper than happiness.. one should strive for joy more than happiness
