A Father's son

A little boy plays on the ground,
He swirls his finger in the sand around;
His eyes were glued to the ground,
Tear drops were just trickling down;
Watching him on a bench close by,
I thought I'd ask him why he cried;
My papa has died he sighed,
On hearing this my heart did divide.
Tiny hands around my neck I felt,
My shoulders with his tears were wet;
He asked me 'why did my papa lie?'
'He did not tell me he was going to die!'
'I want my papa where is he? '
'Do you know if he still loves me?'
I hugged the boy and held him close
I started to wipe his precious tears.
I said your papa would never lie
He must have not known he would die.
He loved you then,
He loves you still,
God took him for it was his will.
I held his hand and walked along,
And looked around for his mom.
She looked at me with yes so sad
I knew at once she missed his dad.
I went back home and cried the tears,
I had held inside me all these years;
I gave my son a hug and kiss;
I promised him 'We will always be like this'.
My own father I do miss
But now what counts is only this...
To love my child the days I am here
For I know not when God wants me near.
