GULF OF MEXICO CATASTROPHE

GULF OF MEXICO

Let history record, and never forget
April 20, 2010 a day of fierce regret!

Explosion and fire erupted on "Deepwater Horizon"
11 precious lives were sacrificed in this fiery coffin!
Due to man's imperfection, can you hear their cries?
Lover's of money, greed, insensitivity, their demise!

Sheila, widow of Donald Clark, who was killed on the oil rig explosion
Sobs, uncontrollably as promises are made to compensate the victims for
British Petroleum's carelessness.

A hard hat from an oil worker that died, lies motionless all alone.
Tragically, who's son, husband, brother, or uncle, it's unknown?

As the oil rig slowly melts below the surface of the water, it hits the
well and damages the blowout preventer
This is the safety device that stops the flow of oil from the well,
as a result, there is no blocker!
Crude oil continues to flow from a broken pipe on the seafloor.
It has spread thousands of square miles like a leech it sucks the
life from everything it encounters, even on the gulf shore!

All creature swimmers or fliers are encased in it's heavy mire
strangling them to death.
Pulling them under like quick sand, exhausted and out of breath.

This poor brown pelican tried to climb over an oil containment boom
Confused, they lose their way, no place for them, oil spill, no room!

There is hope for rescuing these critters, this one caught while in it's nest.
This pelican is transported to a stabilization center where he will receive
much loving care!

A volunteer washes this brown pelican with Dawn soap
removes the oil in a minute.
Pepto-Bismo is then given, to clean their insides,
smooth as velvet.
Two hundred and ninety two birds were brought in
over a six week period.
Eighty-six were brought in on Sunday just one day
how Horrid!

Streaks of oil sheens are seen north of the site of the Deepwater
Horizon oil spill......
Deemed the worst catastrophe in the History of the United
States, what is the damage for real?
Scientists are saying that it will take years to clean up
this devastating disaster!
Eleven precious human lives, and creatures of all
kinds and sizes, what could possibly be grimmer?

Created with much
loving care and prayer.
Thank you dear Zahra for the
marvelous images!

sitting here in the UK and watching this on tv makes it seem so unreal, but the words of this fabulous poem brings this total disaster to life for me. Your ffull description makes this poem stand out, how sad this situation is, especially for those of us who love the natural world. Brilliant.

You are worth of the highest praise for this not only magnificent poem, but also for your compassion, your empathy, your great love, oh what a heart you have!

Besides the marvellous pictures and the Ave Maria, I can not imagine anybody can do more.
May the Lord repay you a thousand-fold for the hard work of reasearch, pictures, music and geeral composition,to even get to understand the technicalites of the tragedy, but foremost for your empathy, compassion and love
A masterpiece of the heart. !

You wrote with such passion and conviction on such a tragic moment Conni.
The poem and pictures so powerful and moving. I feel so bad for the families and life lost, for the sea life, the beautiful coast and for the people who live out there. They have taken another knock on their chins once more. In answer to your question, no I didn't think I would see this, but then again Iv been expecting something. You are right, greed and money and look what it has done? Travesty!!!!!

Hugs N Love
Michelle
