If only we could see what's writ, With spectral guile and wit, In the tome of life, be not, forsooth, We merely nourish the sprawling root, Of the tree of newling life, N'er prescient of nounce nor strife. To foresee the growth of the fruit-laden bough, Would answer the eternal qualm of how, We drift along intrepid night's lonesome stream, And n'er obtain the crystalline gems that gleam, On the far-flung shores of the beached esteem, Of a supra-natural balming requiem.
Yet we settle for the shadow-play's cave, And eye the shodden vaults and naves, Of a capacious carapace of a wing'd creature, That is forever slumbering from imbibing a tincture, That stains the comely face of life with a veil, A stricken teasing of a bullwark we can't assail.
The branches of that archaic bower, Does nothing more than reserve a beastial power, To be released at the knell of a timely revelation, That will be pandemic if the nabi's rife conflagration, Only the prodigies and precocious eleusids, With open hearts and fears unhid, Will drink the honeyed sap from the felled evergreen, And forego the theatrics of what has been, A blight on the pure and undefiled figure of mankind, And n'er again be in the barbrous bind, Of the psyches, id, ego, anima wrested carefree, And become again peaceful and borne of prosperity.
