THE RIGHT SHOES
Stood at the edge of the forest Bewildered by fear and dread, Saw the path of direction before me, Inched so slowly ahead.
Prepared not to travel this venture, Felt lost, fettered to roam. Dressed in red ruby slippers A click of heels sends me home.
Stood on the side of the mountain, Hindered by rocks and terrain, Envisioned my destination, Footed naked, my feet in pain.
Protected not for the travel, Stopped to ponder above . Found sturdy old shoes I needed, Tied tightly by Dad with His love.
Woke early one morning, felt restless. Tossed and turned, ached in my bed. Flashed events of the day, oh so many, Fluttering, intruding my head.
Touched bare feet near the bed in reluctance, Shivered the feel of the floor. Smiled at the dress of my foot ware, Danced in ballet shoes, fear no more!
