Winter, sharp and uncompromising, As come to these high hills of Wales. Its sharpness touches the raw nerves of the exposed earth Sending shock waves through the valley. And from my hillside vantage point I watch you emerge through this netherworld Of predawn dark, and I need not tell you how I feel, For you are everything to me And I hold you dearer than life itself. As always I am mesmerised like a child at Christmas As you come across the frost brittle fields, Your smile a slowly maturing sun in a sky of freshly laundered linen. The far mountain peaks are snow blistered and sensual At your touch. And as you empty the last stars from the sky A group of crows erupt from some secret hide away, Their raucous cries welcoming you, their black cloaks shocking In this frost scorched world that you enter. I rise on the hillside and watch your majestic arrival, I bow in reverence, worthless in your presence, My day already perfect, thanks to you.

Words of warmth and reassurance reflected in the arrival of 'morning' and as with the smile of slowly maturing sun so does your beautifully expressive way of writing bring a smile to me x |
