You have dug yourself a hole About the size of your fist The soil, displaced, is missing or merged With the rest of your thoughts You place three little pods of her nagging insecurity Into the tiny gap You dig up some new thoughts and cover these seeds Forgotten in hours of days Her unnecessary tears shower rain on this spot Almost to the point of excess Every secret you share with her Is a root shooting deeper still The eye of denial shines Shines in the sky Rays beating into your thoughts Masking the seeds with nourishment As all plants do It grows overnight Blooming and thriving with life But it is a thorn bush Full of resentment and hate Its consuming the land Its consuming your mind All who walk by you Are pricked with your bitterness Why cant you just cut it down?
