anguished

Sunlight falls goldenrod On the curtains Like flowing water. Trees are covered in pollen, Turned from brown To yellow By the wind and The flowers. I stand behind a screen door. They yell, and it burns. Like the light of the sun And the smell In the air. I am on fire. It is a blue fire, Glowing embers in the breeze, Drying tears And ignoring them. They yell still. Still. And I am still, Trying to soak in the sun And drown myself In spring. But when I come up for breath I will yell too.
And they will be still.
