The sun rests above the horizon,
Almost out of sight.
Alcohol coursing through my veins,
The taste of Captain Morgan's fresh on my tongue.
He reaches for my hand,
Our fingers interlocking.
Each step takes us farther and farther away.
The distant sound of laughter and singing
Rings through the summer night.
I sneak a peek in his direction.
My eyes meet his.
As our pace slows, my heart races.
This is the moment I've been waiting for.
He faces me, pulling me in closer.
I catch a hint of peppermint as the space closes.
At last, our lips meet in the darkness.
He kisses me, gently.
His hand resting on my back,
Rubbing it ever so slightly.
Everything was perfect.
Everything was how I'd imagined it.
My first kiss.
