Walking in the rain alone alone am I in soaking clothes my jeans cold wrapped around knee bones drips they tickle at my toes I squelch in my warm soggy shoes a pleasure, few if any know solitary comfort blues not quite sure how far i'll go drips collect around my nose I taste them as they pass my lips ticklish feelings grow and grow settled by my finger tips this path I take is from my past puddles inconvenient lay the memory of it it is deep cast all seen as if yesterday I rehearse lines that could not change what was said cannot reverse my lack of power to rearrange compared to choice, say which is worse? The path meanders to the right a tiny elevation clear the wind picks up, it starts to bite I run up, jump twice to get clear I miscalculate length of stride and flop in puddle ankle high my other foot it starts to slide hand in mud then rubbed on thigh I laugh at my foolish attempt to walk down paths I walked alone in times before I paid the rent or owned a car and mobile phone the simplicity of a walk down paths I knew well as a lad in memories now I start to soak unlike my jeans, they make me glad
